South Atlantic Express cable system


Private submarine cable system of approximately 10,000km in length, led by eFive (South Africa) and GlobeNet (Brazil). First submarine cable system linking Africa to South America. Additional branching units for future landings in South Africa (East London and Port Elizabeth). Expected to be operational Q2 2014.

Diversity route for North America-bound traffic from India and the Arabian Peninsula via Southern Africa. The cable’s aim is to be operational in time for Brazil’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.
